After breakfast, your professional guide will meet you at the hotel for the start of your Garden Route tour. Your first stop will be for lunch at the Old Gaol Coffee shop in Swellendam. Established in 2001 by Brin & Judi Rebstein at Swellendam’s museum precinct, the Old Gaol Coffee shop has gained an ever-widening reputation for its traditional foods (originally ‘Melktert’ baked in a copper pan and ’Roosterkoek’ baked over the coals), so the menu has grown, to include authentic dishes like old-fashioned chicken pie, bobotie & sambals, waterblommetjie or tomato bredie, Cape curries and the ever-popular lamb shanks or oxtail. All typical Daily Specials that reflect the love of great food and the commitment of this proud and spirited team.
After lunch depart for Knysna where you will be accommodated at Belvidere Manor for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Belvidere Manor - situated in the Garden Route's treasure trove of pristine beaches, lush indigenous forests and tranquil estuaries. South Africa's most romantic - and most relaxed getaway.
Enjoy the beguiling tranquility of the west shore of Knysna's lagoon. Relax by the swimming pool in our beautiful gardens (Belvidere Estate is a nature-lover's paradise with more than 270 bird species identified), or retreat to the secluded comfort of the sunny terrace or cozy fireplace in your own Cape-style cottage.
In the late afternoon, transfer to Thesen island where dinner will be at “The Turbine Hotel's Island Café”. This 90 seat restaurant at The Turbine Hotel creates a totally unique environment for all meals. Tables overlook the canal, pool deck or are nestled between the original refurbished turbines. Warm open fireplaces and majestic sliding glass doors allow us to maximize and match the ambience and weather conditions. The Island café has won the prestigious 2012 Diners Club Platinum Award for its wine list. (B)
