Itinerary:This adventurous, two-week trip uses planes, boats, trains and buses to discover a land of bewildering contrasts: volcanoes, high plateau, snow-capped mountains, fertile valleys, rushing rivers, shimmering lakes and dense Amazon rainforest. In the colonial city of Arequipa – a great stop to help with acclimatisation – you visit the 17th century Santa Catalina convent and the famous Ice Mummies museum. Take a trip to the floating islands of the Uros Indians on Lake Titicaca before heading by bus through the highlands to the vibrant city of Cusco. From here there is the highlight of the trip - a classic train ride through dramatic mountains to the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu.
