Travel Stories

Exodus Tour - Essential Peru

As I arrive in Lima, I can only imagine how Hiram Bingham must have felt 100 years ago when he saw Machu Picchu for the first time. The astonishing Lost City of the Incas draws visitors from around the world to Peru, but it is only one of the highlights that this diverse country has to offer.

Country Walker's Tour - Italy: Tuscany & Umbria

There are few travel experiences as exciting as rounding a corner of a street and having your breath taken away by a stunningly beautiful building. This is what happened to me in Siena, Italy. It was one of the many highlights of my walking trip, a gastronomic and historical discovery of Tuscany and Umbria.

Exodus Tour - Icelandic Highlights

I'm lucky enough to have travelled a lot, but was still thrilled to visit Iceland for the first time. I wasn't too sure of what to expect — but was pleasantly surprised (and amazed) by the diversity. This is undoubtedly a country where you see sights (and try food) you wouldn't find anywhere else in the world.

We were hosted by Adventure Center partner Exodus. Like all of our tour operator partners, they provided a first-rate experience with a wonderful local tour operator, Oskar Guojonsson. He is a man who loves his country. And it shows.

Exodus Tour - Andes to Amazon

Quito was as delightful as I remember.

On our first day we took a wonderful 5-hour walking tour with Pablo, our Exodus guide. You learn so much more when you're with someone who knows about the area. As it was a Sunday, many people were gathered in the main square: There were families out walking, busy ice cream sellers, lots of music, and people out in their Sunday best. Great fun! We selected a Cuban restaurant for our first dinner for our group of 8. Yum.

Peregrine Tour - Syria & Lebanon discovery

I have seen many beautiful buildings. The Alhambra drew me back several times, and the Taj Mahal left me deeply moved. I now add to that list the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. It stopped me in my tracks, and my jaw dropped when I walked into the central courtyard.

There is stunning beauty in the mosaics, the enormous space enclosed by the arcades, the cool marble tiles of the courtyard, the emotions on the faces of the faithful and the melodious, and the hypnotic chanting of the muezzin. The Umayyad Mosque should be on any traveller's must-see list.

Peregrine Tour - The Nile & Red Sea Explorer

Day 1: My first brush with Egyptian culture was on the four-hour Egypt Air flight from London to Cairo. The friendly flight crew and better-than-average food made me eager to touch down and really explore the country.

My arrival in Cairo was exactly what one would expect. I stood in line to get my visa, for which you can only pay in US dollars, British pounds or euros. Once done, you hunt for your luggage, along with the hundreds of others doing the very same. With all of my baggage in hand, it was truly time to delve into the culture.

Peregrine tour - Peru & Galapagos

If you have less than three weeks and want to explore two of South America's greatest highlights - the Inca Trail and the Galapagos Islands - then this is the tour for you.

I travelled to Peru in March, which is typically known as the "wet season", but it turned out to be a fabulous time to go.

Dragoman tour - East Africa Overland

Every since I can remember, I have dreamed of travelling to Africa. I wanted to experience the real thing - animals in their own environment. Thanks to Dragoman I have finally experienced the excitement and amazement of East Africa. The trip was everything I though it would be and more.
