Mountains, monasteries, Sherpa culture and stunning views of Mount Everest
The Everest region has arguably the most dramatic mountain scenery in the world and you don’t need to go all the way to Base Camp for the best views. This lodge-based trek offers sensational mountain panoramas and an insight into the lives of the Sherpa people. We fly to Lukla and trek up the Dudh Kosi Valley, surrounded by the soaring peaks of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. It’s a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, capital of the Khumbu Sherpas, but well worth it for the spectacular mountain panorama. A free day provides time to explore the local market or enjoy an optional walk towards Thami. We follow the trail to the Sherpa village Khumjung, Edmund Hillary built a hospital nearby in the 1960s and you can see the famous Yeti scalp… and draw your own conclusions as to its authenticity! Then it's back to Phakding, before descending to Lukla and the spectacular return flight to Kathmandu.
