Walking In Sardinia
8 days - from $1540
Superb daywalks amid rich and charming scenery
Often referred to as the 'land of silence', Sardinia is a place of outstanding natural beauty, with crystal-clear rivers, limestone ridges and deep gorges. As well as stunning beaches, the Dorgali area attracts archaeologists from all over the world because of its historic interest. During our varied walks through the heart of the region, we will pass many monuments from the times of the Nuraghi people, one of the main Mediterranean prehistoric civilisations. Some walks are possible from the hotel door, and on other days we use private or public transport to take us to the trailhead, to explore the ridges, valleys, gorges and peaks of this fascinating island.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Start Dorgali. 2 Introductory walk around Monte Tului with superb views across Gulf of Orosei and Supramonte. 3 Explore Nuraghic village of Serra Orrios, with its complex circular huts dating back to the Bronze Age; free afternoon to visit Dorgali's archaeological museum. 4 Visit Gorroppu Gorge, Italy's deepest natural canyon with breathtaking views; free time to swim in clear pools of Flumineddu River (seasonal). 5 Free day to explore Dorgali, try horse-riding or simply relax and enjoy the leisurely Sardinian lifestyle. 6 We enjoy a wonderful walk around magical Tiscali Village, built inside a cave in Monte Corrasi, and visit the springs of Su Cologone. 7 Explore the caves and cliffs on our walk to the tranquil beach of Cala Luna; free afternoon for snorkelling, relaxing on the beach or walking through forests up to the beautiful canyon. 8 End Dorgali.
