Walking In The French Pyrenees
8 days - from $1400
Daywalks from a comfortable hotel in the stunning central Pyrenees
Forming a natural border between France and Spain, the Pyrenees have been one of our most popular destinations for over 15 years. With spectacular scenery, an abundance of flora and fauna and a warm Mediterranean climate it is easy to see why. This trip is based in the charming French spa town of Ax-les-Thermes, already a popular destination for our Pyrenees winter cross-country skiing weeks (trip code CXX). Our accommodation for the week is a comfortable family-run hotel, with large, en suite rooms, overlooking the flowing waters of the Ariege River and just a short walk from the centre of Ax with all its amenities and newly renovated spa. For those wishing to travel by train there are excellent rail links to Ax-les-Thermes and several regional flights offering easy access to Toulouse. Our flexible programme of five daywalks includes the summits and ridges of the lower hills, as well as forays into the high peaks, towards glacial lakes and more rugged terrain.
