From the granite domes and waterfalls of Yosemite National Park to the multi-coloured stone spires of Bryce Canyon, the striking landscapes of the American West will take your breath away. Etched by millions of years of erosion, sprawling deserts, deep-red canyons and giant open spaces abound in this geological wonderland. We visit some of the best destinations for walkers in the US, covering trails that will challenge all abilities and at times venturing off the beaten track to search for the cliff dwellings of the Anasazi Indians and the Navajo. Camping enables us to fully appreciate the solitude and starry skies that this region is so rightly famous for. Our journey ends in glittering, iconic Las Vegas. Grand on all fronts, this is a trip with big landscapes, big skies and even bigger adventures. 

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start San Francisco. 2 Explore San Francisco and drive to Yosemite N.P. 3-4 Hiking in Yosemite N.P. 5 To Great Basin in Cathedral Gorge State Park. 6 Drive to Zion N.P., afternoon walk. 7 Hike Angel's Landing and drive to Bryce Canyon N.P. 8 Walking in Bryce Canyon N.P. 9 To Moab, home of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. 10 Full day walking in Arches N.P. and Canyonlands N.P. 11 Hiking with the Navajo in Canyon de Chelly. 12 Drive through the Painted Desert to the Grand Canyon. 13 Walking in the Grand Canyon. 14 To Las Vegas. 15 End Las Vegas.
