Loire Cycling Weekend

5 days - from $926

Ride through the rich vineyards of a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Only a short train ride away, the Loire Valley is the perfect place for a weekend break exploring the charming chateaux and enjoying a wine tasting or two in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Loire Valley has been the home of Kings since the 10th century and there are over 300 ornate buildings built in the heyday of the French royalty and nobility, that contribute to the area being known as 'Chateau Country'. Running westward for over 1000km before spilling into the Atlantic Ocean, the Loire is France's longest river, and our cycling loops from the historic market town of Amboise through flourishing vineyards, leafy forests and charming villages.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Amboise. 2 Ride along peaceful country roads and through quiet villages of the Sologne to Cour-Cheverny, home to one of the best preserved private chateaux in France. 3 Cycle through the forests to the Chateau de Chambord, an extraordinary collection of turrets and spires, then riverbank ride to Chaumont-sur-Loire. 4 Follow the rolling countryside to Amboise and visit the spectacular chateau of Chenonceaux, which actually sits in the Cher River; time to visit the last home of Leonardo da Vinci, and the castle of Amboise. 5 End Amboise.
