Egypt is a truly fascinating country steeped in history and charm. This fun and varied trip combines awe-inspiring monuments and ancient world treasures with fun and relaxation on the Nile and by the Red Sea - the perfect introduction to a captivating land. We delve in to the country's glorious past as we visit Giza's Great Pyramids, see the riches of Tutankhamun and visit the grand temples and tombs at ancient Thebes. These sights (and our great guides) never fail to captivate children and adults alike as they bring these ancient sites back to life. Upstream, we experience Aswan's vibrant Nubian culture, relax on a traditional felucca sail boat on the Nile and there is even an optional visit to the spectacular temples at Abu Simbel. Towards the end of our trip we head to the Red Sea coast with its sandy beaches, clear waters and colourful reefs. There is time here for various excursions or you can simply relax - the choice is yours.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Fly to Cairo. 2 Relaxed morning; visit the impressive Egyptian museum, home to Tutankhamun's treasures. Overnight sleeper train to Aswan. 3 Arrive Aswan; relaxing felucca ride on Nile; afternoon free to visit Nubian museum and bazaar or optional visit to Aswan High Dam and Philae Temple. 4 Optional visit to Abu Simbel or relax by pool. 5 Visit the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo, continue to Luxor; visit Karnak and Luxor temples; horse and carriage ride. 6 Explore Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut's Temple and Colossi of Memnon; afternoon visit Mummufication Museum. 7 Transfer to Red Sea. 8 Full day in El Gouna for optional snorkelling, boat trip or exploring desert. 9 Fly to Cairo; visit the spectacular Giza Pyramids; camel ride; visit papyrus workshop and decorate own papyrus. 10 Fly to London.

Group size: Normally 6 to 20 plus leader (Egyptologist) and driver as required.
Accommodation: 9 nights excellent 4/5 star hotels and 1 night sleeper train with wash facilities in each cabin. We spend two nights at the Basma hotel in Aswan. It has a good location, lovely swimming pool, restaurant and shaded outdoor seating areas. Our two nights by the Red Sea are spent at the small, relaxed resort of El Gouna, which is spread across islands and lagoons. Our hotel is located near the marina, close to a variety of small restaurants, shops and beaches. Cairo and Luxor 5 star luxury hotels are ideally located with ensuite rooms and swimming pool.
