Explore all that is China: the Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and giant pandas on this trip to one of the world's most diverse countries. Starting in Beijing, our journey provides contrasting experiences at every turn. The frantic pace of life in the cities is complemented by markets in Xi'an and cycling around the country side in Yangshuo. Children can try their hand at everything from Kung Fu to Chinese cooking, Tai Chi to calligraphy, while learning about Chinese culture.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Beijing. 2-3 Two full days sightseeing in and around Beijing, including Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Forbidden City where it's possible to try Tai Chi and calligraphy. 4 Transfer to the Great Wall and walk along the top. 5 Morning walk on the Wall. Transfer to Beijing, evening sleeper train to Luoyang. 6 Drive to Shaolin Temple and watch Kung Fu demonstration then join in a Kung Fu lesson at a local school (optional). 7 Visit Long Men Cave; afternoon train to Xi'an. 8 Morning walking tour of the Muslim area and mosque, afternoon free or optional cycle ride on Xi'an city walls. 9 Visit the famed Terracotta Warriors, afternoon/evening fly to Chengdu. 10 Visit Giant Panda Research Centre. Fly to Guilin and drive to Yangshuo. 11 Cycle ride to Moon Hill, afternoon buy produce from the local market for our traditional cooking class. 12 Free day in Yangshuo. 13 Transfer to Guilin, fly to Shenzen and then bus to Hong Kong. Afternoon orientation tour of Hong Kong including Victoria Peak and Stanley Market. 14 Free day in Hong Kong. 15 End Hong Kong.

Mode of travel: Flights usually via Dubai with Emirates. Transport private bus/coach, overnight train, bicycle and 3 internal flights.
Group size: Normally 6 to 20, plus leader and appropriate local guides.
Accommodation: 12 nights hotels, 1 night basic village guesthouse, 1 overnight train. All hotels and guesthouse are ensuite. Hotels are 3 star with air conditioning and are centrally located. Our hotel in Hong Kong is at the tip of Kowloon Peninsula, with an adult & child pool and sports facilities; it is located just beside the Star ferry, within walking distance of the Golden Mile shopping street and the MTR (Metro/Underground).
