Discover Borneo's enchanting combination of unique wildlife, mysterious jungles and white tropical beaches. Visit the oldest rainforests in the world, with their rich diversity of wildlife including Orang-utans, Asian elephants and proboscis monkeys. From ancient rainforests to tropical islands, we'll bathe in mud volcanoes and snorkel coral reefs. We will also visit Gomantong Caves, where thousands of bats gather, and there will be opportunities to experience the local culture with a visit to a market and a couple of nights in a longhouse.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Kota Kinabalu. 2 Free day; optional visit to Abdul Rahman Marine Park. 3 Morning fly to Sandakan. Visit Rainforest Discovery Centre and Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary. 4 To Kinabatangan River; afternoon river cruise. 5 Dawn wildlife walk, jungle walk to Oxbow lake; optional night safari. 6 Drive to tea plantation for 2 nights in a traditional longhouse; visit Gomantong Caves en route, home to over a million swiftlets. 7 A fun day of jungle walks, swimming in the river and a tour of the tea factory. 8 Drive to Poring Hot Springs then onto Kota Kinabalu via Kundasang War Memorial. 9 Free day with optional visits to whitewater rafting or Mari Mari cultural village. 10 Morning transfer to Pulau Tiga. Free time to relax and explore the beach. 11 Free day on the beach or explore the mud volcano; a half day snorkel trip to Snake and Sand islands is included. 12 Free morning, afternoon return to Kota Kinabalu. 13 End Kota Kinabalu.



Mode of travel: Flights via Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Airlines. Transport private mini bus, taxis and 1 internal flight.
Group size: Normally 6 to 20, plus leader and appropriate local staff.
Accommodation: 2 nights comfortable hotels, 7 nights standard hotels/lodges all en suite, 2 night basic longhouse, to experience 'traditional tribal' hospitality, sleeping in twin/triple rooms with shared bath. The longhouse has mosquito nets, bed linen, electricity and ceiling fans.
Food: All breakfasts, 6 lunches and 5 dinners included.
