Highlights Of Morocco15 days - from $1230Imperial cities, Atlas Mountains, Sahara Desert and the Atlantic coastFor sheer diversity, Morocco is the perfect destination, so close to Europe, yet so completely different. We explore the imperial cities of Marrakech, Meknes and Fez, with crowded bazaars conjuring up flavours of Arabian Nights. Our journey takes us through contrasting mountain ranges to the south, where sand dunes and kasbahs are scattered among palm oases inhabited by friendly Berbers. A highlight of our trip is a camel trek to the edge of the Sahara and a night at a Bedouin camp (or under the stars - your choice!). We fit in a visit to Todra Gorge, to the beautiful 16th century kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, and we enjoy a village walk in a picturesque valley of the High Atlas. We complete the trip with a walk along the sandy beach of Essaouira and visit the souks for some last minute shopping. This trip takes such a variety of scenery in just two weeks, including desert and mountains, vibrant imperial cities and coast that it is difficult to choose a favourite. Itinerary:Day 1 Start Casablanca. 2 Visit Hassan II Mosque; to Rabat; visit old quarter; to Meknes. 3 Explore the well-preserved Roman site of Volubilis and Meknes; to Fez. 4 Guided tour of Fez, one of the world's finest Islamic cities. 5 To Merzouga. 6 Time to walk among the dunes; afternoon camel trek; camp in the desert. 7 To Todra Gorge. 8 Optional morning walk and palmery tour around gorge in the afternoon. 9 Drive along the 'Route of a Thousand Kasbahs' to Telouet, via the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. 10 Full day walking in the High Atlas. 11 Over High Atlas to Essaouira. 12 Free day in Essaouira to explore the old town and beach. 13 To Marrakech, the 'Pink City; guided tour. 14 Free day in Marrakech to enjoy the souks, gardens and vibrant Djemaa el Fna, the great outdoor market. 15 End Marrakech. Mode of travel: Travel by private mini or midibus and camel. Group size: Normally 6 to 16, plus leader and appropriate local guides.
