Adventure Center, a TUI Travel PLC company, is an adventure travel company located in Emeryville in the San Francisco East Bay. Adventure Center is the leading US seller of affordable adventure travel experiences in over 100 countries worldwide. Please note that trip leaders are not employed by Adventure Center here in the United States. All trip leaders are hired by our ground operators overseas, or locally within the countries where our adventure programs operate.

Adventure Sales Specialist

We're looking for an experienced world traveler with an aptitude for sales. If you're a grassroots style traveler who would like to turn your knowledge of travel in developing countries into an interesting job this could be for you. We need a good traveler who can translate their passion for travel into sales of our affordable adventures. If this sounds like you read on for more details.

This sales position involves selling our adventure trips to travelers and travel agents, helping them identify experiences that meet their needs, and helping them prepare for their trip. This entails handling incoming calls and emails from clients and travel agents, working closely with the client or agent, and booking land arrangements with our overseas partners plus flights through our airline reservations system. The Adventure Sales Specialist will also ensure that clients receive all appropriate documentation, and have all their travel related questions answered. They will work closely with other sales team members to meet sales goals, to ensure that all clients are being serviced in a timely and efficient manner, and do all necessary follow up plus other tasks that may be necessary to meet the evolving needs of the business. This sales position requires great attention to detail, the ability to communicate effectively, and to prioritize a full workload.

The person we require:

  • is confident about selling
  • has extensive overseas travel experience, at least some in developing countries
  • is organized, accurate and pays great attention to detail
  • has excellent oral and written communication skills
  • works well under pressure, can handle several projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
  • has an excellent knowledge of world geography
  • is able to handle a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • has data entry and word processing experience, and likes computers
  • is willing to be a team player and help out wherever necessary, but also works well unsupervised
  • is flexible, has a good sense of humor, and an upbeat personality

Prior travel industry experience and a working knowledge of Amadeus is a definite plus, as is a Customer Service / Sales background.

Starting salary will depend on experience. Travel and health benefits are available.
