Itinerary:An amazing, adventurous and challenging journey across the whole of West Africa, from Dakar (about as far west as you can go in Africa) to Douala in Cameroon. You’ll visit Kiang West National Park in Gambia, travel deep into Mali famed for its music and indigenous desert communities, and undertake a trek through the rarely visited Mandigue country. Crossing through Burkina Faso, with its fantastic countryside and wonderfully named cities, you’ll overland through Ghana from Mole National Park with its elephants and ‘Gold Coast’ beaches. Then, it’s through the voodoo lands of Togo and Benin, visiting small villages en route to Nigeria, your next destination and where you’ll visit Yankari National Park, home to lions, the Afi Mountains for colourful drill monkeys before venturing into the jungle. By the time you reach Cameroon you’re deep in the rainforest. Douala is the end of the road, and there’s time to hit the beach at Limbe for some rest and relaxation. Notes: Because of the nature of this tour, the itinerary may well vary from that published. This trip will involve crossing remote areas and there will be an element of discomfort. This is a tough but very rewarding trip. Kitty does not cover food while staying in hotels and hostels. All kitties are quoted in USDs, however in North and West Africa, Euros are much easier to use. Please ensure you bring Euros and not USDs for the kitty and for personal spending. The exchange of USD to Euro for the kitty will be decided by the tour leader on Day 1 of the trip.
