Xi'an<- ->Beijing

If you were looking to combine China's highlights with some of the country's hidden gems and don't have much time to spare, Xi'an to Beijing is a good way of doing it. We'll take in the Terracotta Warriors, catch up on the glories of the Imperial past in Chengde and take a trek along the Great Wall. No visit to China would be complete without a trip to Beijing, and we'll end the trip with a guided tour of the Forbidden City.

Itinerary:

This short but intensive trip, a fantastic blend of active adventure and cultural sites, combines many of China’s highlights with some of its hidden gems. So, you’ll see the Terracotta Warriors, trek the Great Wall, catch up on the glories of Chengde’s Imperial past and be treated to a guided tour of the Forbidden City. But you’ll also be stopping to visit the charming town of Pingyao which is packed with Qing dynasty architecture and the Yungang grottoes near Datong. All in all, a comprehensive but fascinating introduction to China!

Notes: Kitty does not cover food while staying in hotels and hostels. This itinerary is liable to change at any time before or during the journey. Although this trip is designed to stay in hotels every night, because of the unpredictable nature of overland travel, we may camp for a night or two and you should be prepared to bring along a sleeping bag and a roll mat.
