Kathmandu<- ->Beijing
48 days - from $3605
This trip is a combination of 2 journeys: Himalayan, Tibetan & Chinese Explorer (HTC) and China & Inner Mongolia (CHM). From Kathmandu we climb high into the Himalayas, heading for Tibet - a challenging route at high altitude through stunning landscapes. We stop at local monasteries en route, as well as hiking up to Everest Base Camp, before arriving in Lhasa, dominated by the imposing Potala Palace. Crossing the Tibetan Plateau we descend into Gansu Province bound for Xi'an, where there's time to recuperate before we set out for Inner Mongolia. After seeing the Imperial city of Chengde and trekking a section of the Great Wall we end our incredible journey in Beijing.

If you’re up for a challenging adventure and love nothing more than passing through jaw-dropping gorges, scaling high mountain passes and catching your breath amongst almost lunar-like plateaus, then these trans-Himalayan trips won’t disappoint. It’s an epic adventure, starting in Kathmandu, overlanding to Lhasa (reaching passes of over 5,000 metres), crossing the Tibetan Plateau and visiting the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an before ending the trip in Beijing or extending onto Mongolia.
