Tradition and Comfort
The brigantine - and former star of 'The Onedin Line' TV series - has circumnavigated the globe for decades. With her massive oak beams, polished brass lamps and walnut panelling, the Søren Larsen ranks amongst the most distinguished ocean-going square riggers worldwide. Life on board is relaxed and really does hark back to a bygone age. Yet the Søren Larsen is no museum piece: she's equipped with hot fresh-water showers, an electricity supply and a spacious saloon; there's also snorkelling and windsurfing gear, as well as an on-board library. Below deck are 7 twin and 2 four-berth cabins. All meals are provided.

All Hands on Deck!
Although the Søren Larsen is sailed by 11 professional crew, participation is central to the experience and your enjoyment. So the Captain and crew will invite you to join in and you'll have your chance to take the helm or perhaps fill in the ship's log. Or, if you feel comfortable with it, climbing the rigging to set the topsails and standing watch.

Our Voyages
Ranging from 4 days along the coast of New Zealand to 50 days sailing from Easter Island via Pitcairn to Tahiti, Søren Larsen's voyages offer something for everyone. The voyages fall broadly into two categories: - Ocean Sailing Voyages, where the objective will be to undertake an authentic blue-water ocean passage to the next destination, under square rig. This is an ideal introduction to the age-old traditions of tallship sailing, experiencing the thrill of working as part of a skilled crew - in between serious relaxation! - Island Cruising Voyages are as much about exploring remote destinations untouched by modern tourism (such as Vanuatu), and encounters with the local village cultures, as they are about sailing a square rigger. Sailing at our leisure, there's plenty of scope for snorkelling and swimming on reefs, as well as onshore sorties and hikes. After the fun of a day's sailing and on-shore explorations, we look forward to arriving in a different bay and lying peacefully at anchor.
