Rif Mountains & Medieval Fes
We begin in the port of Tangier on the corner of the Mediterranean and Atlantic coastlines before heading through forests and olive groves into the Rif mountain range to the beautiful Andalucian walled town of Chefchouan, set above the Oued Laou valley. Next it's onto Fes and an optional tour of Fes El Bali medina - a walk through the souks is one of the world's great travel experiences. Continuing our journey by rail we reach Rabat, the country's capital, and explore the Kasbah of the Oudaias and Roman site of the Chellah.

Magical Moments in Exotic Marrakech
A further rail journey takes inland to the edge of the High Atlas mountains and the 'red city' of Marrakech. The pink, mud-brick walls surrounding the old city, overlooked by palm trees, makes for an unforgettable first impression. Here there is the chance to tour the medina, souks, Koutoubia mosque and the famed Djemma El Fna square. Another travel must is to return to the square in the evening as it transforms into an open-air circus of snake-charmers, acrobats, musicians and story-tellers that will keep you entertained long into the night.

Desert Oases & Berber villages
Turning south we head over the High Atlas to the 'Gateway to the Sahara', Zagora. Here we visit Amazrou vaillge, palmery and Islamic sanctuary nearby, before an optional sunset camel ride in the dunes on the edge of the great Sahara. We then head into the Anti-Atlas Mountains to the traditional Berber village of Tagoudiche in the shadow of Jebel Lekst mountain. There's time here for walks and copious amounts of mint tea before heading to our final highlight, the historic port of Essaouira with its fine sandy beach and pavement cafés.
