Waterfalls & Geysers
Today we start our adventure by heading out to some of the country's incredible natural wonders, including Gullfoss, an enormous waterfall, and Geysir, the spouting hot spring after which all others are named. We'll also stop at Thingvellir, the location of Europe's oldest parliament. Although very little evidence remains of this early meeting place, the high ridge of the continental divide, and ice-blue rivers and falls make for a spectacular setting to explore.
Volcanoes, whales & Blue Lagoon
The following day has been left free for you to try a number of exciting optional trips. Year-round can try your hand at snowmobiling on one of the country's many glaciers or travel in outrageous 'superjeeps' on a wild ride to Thorsmork. Surrounded by glaciers, Thorsmork is arguably Iceland's most beautiful valley. In the summer months, wildlife enthusiasts will have the chance to go whale watching or horse-riding. During the winter only, there's also the possibility, weather and atmospheric conditions permitting, to enjoy the amazing spectacle of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). In the evenings you can sample Reykjavik's infamous nightlife and we include a recuperative dip in the thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon.
