About Explore

With 30 new programs, Adventure Center's 252-page EXPLORE brochure features over 360 truly affordable adventures in more than 100 countries! Choose from a vast array of trips: Sail Indonesia's island-studded archipelago aboard a traditional schooner, or hike the hillside trails of Tuscany. Visit ancient Thai temples, or climb the Inca Trail. Explore crusader castles and the lost city of Petra, or experience the culture of the Dogon people and their cliffside villages in remote Mali.

Small Group Travel

We believe that small group travel is the best way to see the world. It gets you up close and personal with the people you meet and the places you're exploring. You also develop a real bond with your travelling companions, and it's not uncommon for lifelong friendships to be forged on an Explore adventure. There is also less impact on the environment and local culture. All our groups are small, typically with 12 to 16 people with your tour leader.

Who goes?

The people you'll find on an Explore tour are as diverse as the tours themselves. They could be from any walk of life, any age and have any number of interests. Typically about half our members are solo travelers with the rest made up of couples or friends. What you can be sure of is that they will share your passion for travel, your belief in seeing the world as it is and your desire to do so responsibly.

Responsible Travel

Explore was founded almost 30 years ago with a philosophy of seeing the world but not harming it as we go, and supporting and giving back to the communicties we visit. That belief has changed little over time and can be seen in the fact that all Explore staff and customer flights have been carbon offset since January 2008.

Tour Leaders

Virtually all our trips are led by a specially trained Tour Leader. The expectations we have of them are uncompromisingly high, and we provide the most intensive training in the business. Our tour leaders achieved the highest mark in a Holiday Which magazine survey with 86^ of customers "Very Satisfied" with their tour leader, plus our very own Diego Torres has won teh gold award at the 2009 Wanderlust Paul Morrison Guide Awards. So you can rest assured you'll be in safe hands!
