Petra And Wadi Rum By Bike

9 Days - from $30

One week cycling through fantastic desert scenery, plus Petra and Madaba

The Kingdom of Jordan is an ideal destination for a one-week break. It includes one of the most spectacular wonders in the world - the 'rose-red' city of Petra - and the ancient sites of Madaba and Mount Nebo. Away from the temples and monuments we ride through quiet villages and ancient olive groves, and meet the extraordinary Bedouin people, whose hospitality has quenched many a desert explorer's thirst. There is also the opportunity to float in the Dead Sea and snorkel in the Red Sea, ensuring that there is time to relax and unwind as well as explore. Most relaxing of all, perhaps, is the night spent in Wadi Rum, the former headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia. Here the solitude, the majestic desert scenery, and incredible night skies, ensure a memorable evening of star gazing.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Madaba. 2 Ride/drive to Madaba through ancient olive groves and pine trees. 3 Ride via Mt Nebo to Suwaima for a swim in the Dead Sea; drive to Petra along the King's Highway. 4-5 Two full days to explore the fascinating city of Petra, including a guided tour of the main sites; optional trek or ride to the temple of Siq Al Baida. 6 Ride/drive via the deserts of Wadi Araba to Aqaba on the Red Sea. 7 Free morning to visit the beach or explore the town; drive/ride to Wadi Rum and camp in the magnificent desert scenery. 8 Morning desert 4x4 drive far into the Wadi Rum; drive/ride to Amman via the Desert Highway. 9 End Amman.
