This popular corner of France is a superb location for an active family holiday. The junction of the Vezere and Dordogne Rivers hosts an excellent range of interests and activities, and on this itinerary there is the chance to try a little of everything. We take easy canoe trips down both the Vezere and Dordogne, cycle past pretty villages and along riverside tracks, explore stunning castles and a lively market town. During your free time there are optional activities including horse-riding and a visit to the Grand Roc caves. The canoeing is perfect for kids, as the water is slow moving, the canoes can carry 2 adults and 2 children, and each day we canoe downstream, ending back at our campsite. Activities aside, the area has been populated since prehistoric times and has a rich and fascinating history with an abundance of prehistoric artefacts, mediaeval towns and villages, churches and chateaux.
