This trip is a more compact version of our 'Land of the Pharaohs' tour, taking in the amazing archaeological sites at Cairo and Luxor together with a few nights by the Red Sea. A trip to Egypt would not be complete without a visit to the awe-inspiring pyramids at Giza, the Valley of the Kings and the temples of ancient Thebes - all of which are included. An afternoon felucca trip on the Nile, a camel ride by the Pyramids and optional snorkelling in the Red Sea also ensures that this is a great short family trip.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Cairo. 2 Relaxed start; visit Pyramids and ride a camel; overnight train to Luxor. 3 Early morning arrival in Luxor; visit spectacular Karnak and Luxor temples and Mummification Museum. 4 Discover the Valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut's temple and Colossi of Memnon; afternoon donkey ride on West Bank; relaxing felucca ride on Nile. 5 Transfer to Red Sea. 6 Free day in El Gouna for optional snorkelling, boat trip or explore desert. 7 Morning fly to Cairo; afternoon visit to famous archeological museum, home of Tutankhamun's treasures. 8 End Cairo.

Mode of travel: Flights direct to Cairo with British Midland. Transport private mini/midi bus, 1 internal flight, overnight sleeper train, felucca, camel and donkey!
Group size: Min. 4, max. 20 plus guide (Egyptologist) and driver/boat crew as required.
Accommodation: 6 nights good hotel and 1 night overnight train with wash facilities in each cabin. Our 4/5 star hotel in Cairo is located close to the Pyramids and has a large swimming pool together with a selection of restaurants. The two nights by the Red Sea are spent at the small relaxed resort of El Gouna. From here you can swim and snorkel in the Red Sea, relax by the pool or on the beach, or head to the desert to meet the local Bedouin tribes.
