Discover Borneo's enchanting combination of unique wildlife, mysterious jungles and white tropical beaches. Visit the oldest rainforests in the world, with their rich diversity of wildlife including Orang-utans, Asian elephants and proboscis monkeys. From ancient rainforests to tropical islands, we'll bathe in mud volcanoes and snorkel coral reefs in warm waters. We will also visit Gomantong Caves, where thousands of bats live, and spend time whitewater rafting and cycling through small rural villages. There will be many opportunities to experience the local culture with a visit to a market and a cultural village.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Start Kota Kinabalu. 2 Free day; optional visit to nearby adventure park with go-karting, ropes course and climbing wall, or wildlife park. 3 Morning fly to Sandakan. Visit Rainforest Discovery Centre and Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary. 4 To Kinabatagan River; afternoon river cruise. 5 Dawn wildlife cruise, jungle walk to Oxbow lake with tree planting, optional night safari. 6 Drive to tea plantation for 2 nights in a traditional longhouse; visit Gomantong Caves en route, home to over a million swiftlets. 7 A fun day of jungle walks, swimming in the river and a tour of the tea factory. 8 Drive to Mari Mari cultural village, cycle through villages to Orchid farm. 9 White-water rafting and a visit to a local market. 10 Morning transfer to Pulau Tiga. Free day to relax and explore the beautiful beaches. 11 Free day to unwind on the beach, and enjoy optional excursions such as snorkelling, kayaking or the mud volcano. 12 Morning return to Kota Kinabalu. End Kota Kinabalu.
Mode of travel: Flights via Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Airlines. Transport private mini bus and 1 internal flight.

Accommodation: 2 nights beach hotel, 3 nights jungle lodge, 2 nights island resort, 2 nights basic longhouse, 2 nights hotel. The island resorts, and hotels have air conditioning, the longhouse has ceiling fans. The jungle lodge rooms have ensuite bathrooms with hot showers, ceiling fans and netted windows. The lodge on the Kinabatangan River recycles its water to reduce water wastage.
