Cross-country Skiing: Dobbiaco

Excellent track skiing in the spectacular northern DolomitesWell maintained snow-sure trailsAll departures guaranteed
Over the years Dobbiaco has become our most popular centre - and justifiably so. This lively town is set at 1200m amid the unique scenery of the Dolomites. This region of Alta Pusteria is close to the Austrian border where German is spoken as much as Italian, and many towns have two names (Dobbiaco becomes Toblach in German). The range of cross-country tracks here is almost unrivalled in Italy. Many kilometres of easy skiing along the wide valley floor make this a great destination for beginners. A little more challenging is the track that leads south to Cortina d’Ampezzo, a memorable route that passes under the triple rock buttresses of the imposing Tre Cime di Lavaredo. The Sexten and Prags valleys offer a choice of undulating routes in typical Dolomites scenery and the high Plätzwiese Plateau also offers superb routes at about 2000m. We return each evening to the welcoming hospitality of the Tschurtschenthaler family and picturesque Dobbiaco, where we can gaze at the famous jagged peaks of northeast Italy.Webcam from the resort Cross-country Skiing Grades - This holiday is Grade 1, 2, 2+ or 3(Please see Dates & Prices page for more details - some dates offer only one grade) Winter Walking Dobbiaco: Don't forget that our winter walking trip to Dobbiaco also stays at Hotel Tschurtschenthaler (see CID for trip details), so it is possible for two people to share a room but enjoy different activities.
