Riad accommodation through North Africa's cities, mountains and coast

The 'pink city' of Marrakech sits just north of the High Atlas Mountains which provide a magnificent backdrop to this exotic city. We explore the medina, the palace walls, museums and gardens as well as wandering through the busy souks. A night time visit to the colourful Djemaa el Fna is not to be missed. Explore the charming medina of Essaouira, lunch at the fish stalls by the harbour and enjoy a walk (or a camel ride!) on the long sandy beach. Leisurely walks in the High Atlas Mountains offer the opportunity to visit Berber villages and gain an understanding of the life of these hospitable mountain people. The trip offers beautiful Riad accommodation in Marrakech and Essaouira and a wonderful insight into three very different aspects of this vibrant and colourful country.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Marrakech. 2 Morning guided tour of Marrakech; visit the souks, mosques and tannery quarter. 3 Transfer to Essaouira; wander through the souks and impressive medina or along the beach. 4 Guided tour in the morning; transfer via Imlil to Tamadert Village. Overnight in mountain gite. 5 Daywalk up to Tamadert Pass (2250m) through beautiful valleys, rewarded with breathtaking views. 6 Descend to Imlil on foot; return to Marrakech in the evening. 7 Free day to explore beautiful Majorelle Gardens or take a ride in a caleche (horse-drawn carriage). 8 End Marrakech.
