Monuments, forts and palaces of Moghul India plus tiger spotting and the enchanting Taj Mahal
Northern India conjures up memorable and colourful images including Agra, home to the most famous of India's monuments, the Taj Mahal. We visit Fatehpur Sikri and the 'Pink City' of Jaipur, home to the wonderful former Maharaja Palace and the splendid hilltop Amber Palace. Delhi is not to be missed, where monuments to the former Raj and narrow streets teeming with market stalls stand alongside the modern city. In contrast to these man-made wonders we experience the enchanting wildlife of India, made famous by Kipling's Jungle Book. Bharatpur bird sanctuary is a tranquil break from the sensory overload that can be India and Ranthambore National Park, former hunting reserve of the Maharajas of Jaipur, boasts an abundance of prey animals, monkeys and bird life - a truly wonderful spectacle, especially if you see an elusive tiger.
